Fremantle Shipwrights handles every part of boat repairs and maintenance in Fremantle and Perth. We are based in Shed 8 at the Fremantle Sailing Club, with our own lifting, hard standing and undercover sheds, so your boat stays in one place under experienced care from haul-out to launch. Whether it is an insurance claim, a tired hull, or a full interior refit, the same team sees it through.

Fremantle Shipwrights is a Preferred Insurance Repairer. When a job comes in through a claim, we deal with the assessor, document the damage, and get your boat back on the water properly repaired. We work alongside Club Marine, Nautilus Marine, Trident Insurance Group and SGIO. Around here, Rottnest Island's reefs keep us busy, so insurance work is something we handle every week.
Recent work
Insurance repair
Two rogue waves came over the bow leaving Rottnest Bay and went straight through the front windscreen, flooding the fit-out, the engine room and the electrics. The boat came straight to us for the insurance repair. We stripped the ruined fit-out and carpets, overhauled and dyno-tuned the engines, and replaced the shattered glass screen with a moulded fibreglass front, just in case it happens again.

The shipwright
Stephen has been a shipwright for over 30 years. He served his apprenticeship at Mariner Cruisers in Sydney, now Riviera and Maritimo, then spent two years refitting a 50-foot timber sloop on Pittwater using Tasmanian Huon pine, Celery Top and Blackwood. He came west for the America's Cup, ran a Fremantle boat yard for 15 years, and now works out of the Fremantle Sailing Club. He is on every job.
